Siri reveals that it's learning Japanese soon

Apple

Currently Siri understands and speaks English, French and German. But if you ask the personal assistant the right question, it will reveal that Japanese will soon be added to that list of languages.

As 9to5 Mac's Seth Weintraub points out, Apple's website explains that Siri will begin supporting "additional languages, including Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Italian, and Spanish" in 2012.

There are no details as to when support for any of these languages will be added, but if you ask Siri which languages it speaks right now, it actually will list Japanese — a language not actually supported at this time.

Weintraub suggests that this is a pretty blatant hint regarding which additional language Siri will be learning first and offers that it's likely that we'll hear more about this topic right around the time the next generation iPad is announced.
