Hotmail temporarily down: No word yet on cause of outage (Updated)
Updated: Hotmail had returned to service by around 7 p.m. ET.
The email service Hotmail appears to be down at the moment
and has been having problems since Thursday afternoon shortly after 4 p.m. ET.
DownRightNow.com confirmed the downtime, noting a “likely service disruption.” Hotmail has yet
to address the outage on its Twitter account @hotmail, but that is an account
to watch for updates.

Just yesterday, Hotmail announced
a milestone for its Android app: 5 million downloads in less than
five months.
Many are having trouble accessing Hotmail
at the moment. Despite the Web outage, some say they can access mail on their
phone, so that is worth a try at least, though others say they cannot.
Several took to Twitter to voice
their frustration.

Some Hotmail users raised concerns about the outage on Twitter.
This is not the first time Hotmail
has gone down. Just months ago, a
similar outage raised
questions about the reliability of Microsoft’s cloud computing
storage.
